Happy + Healthy Learners = School Improvement

A health promoting school (HPS) strives to nurture the social, emotional, physical and overall wellbeing and cognitive development of its students, staff and community. A health promoting school is a place where all members of the school community work together to provide students with integrated, positive experiences and structures which promote and protect their health.

The concept is about reinforcing the skills & knowledge taught through the curriculum and providing consistent messages through other aspects of schooling, such as the school environment or ethos and community partnerships. The most successful school health promotion initiatives use this whole of school or health promoting school approach.
